Cessnock and Maitland, two of the most prominent regional hubs are set to cash in big if plans for the Cessnock aviation zone is approved. The idea is one Maitland Mayor Loretta Baker is supporting, especially with Maitland Council currently preparing a destination management plan.
She said an regional aviation centre would provide opportunities in the Hunter for more visitors and job opportunities. Maitland City Council is also looking to create a strategic plan to increase tourism levels in the Hunter – complementing Cessnock Council’s plans.
